Real Madrid have reportedly agreed a €2 million deal to sign Ghanaian centre-back Oscar Naasei from Spanish side Granada, with the 21-year-old viewed as a prospect for the future.

Naasei has already completed his medical ahead of the move and is set to initially join Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s reserve side, as he begins his journey towards the first team.

The deal represents a major step in the young defender’s career, with Real Madrid beating competition from a German club that had also shown interest in securing his services.

Naasei has impressed during his time in Spain and has now earned the opportunity to continue his development within one of the world’s most renowned football academies.

Real Madrid’s decision to invest €2 million in the Ghanaian highlights their belief in his potential, although the immediate plan is for him to gain experience and adapt to the demands of the club through Castilla.

The move also gives Naasei an opportunity to develop alongside other highly rated young players within the Real Madrid system, with the long-term objective of pushing towards the senior team.

Naasei will now look to make the most of his opportunity in Madrid after choosing the Spanish giants despite interest from Germany.

The 21-year-old plays mainly as a center-back but can also operate as a right-back. He joined Granada’s under 19 team from Ghanaian lower-tier side Emmanuel City in 2023, and has since gone through the ranks at the Spanish side.

Naasei has featured in 71 games in all competitions since his move to Spain, and has played both games in the La Liga 2 this campaign.
